Kelly Waller

I am interested in the recontextualization of information and media. My work is an exploration of sculpture, utilizing mediums such as paper, printmaking, charcoal, and fibers as well as their combination. Fragments from raw materials are selected and arranged based on decisions of intuitive thought processing and formal qualities. I explore the process of editing relating to a sense of control in that I am the one selecting what is presented and how. The rolled forms are used to obscure and condense information, as well as to explore the quality of line and help transitions from each fragment flow. The work is inspired by my interest in cinema and is thought of as physical manifestations of film (still images sequenced) and montage theory (focus on editing rather than content).
